We invite you to become a member of ASCRA. The benefits of membership are
  1. To participate in and support an organization of like-minded individuals; sharing an interest in Amateur Radio (whether you have passed a licensing exam or not) in Christian service to each other, our communities, our nation and our world.
  2. Receive the newsletter of the association, which we call In Service. In Service is mailed quarterly, and back issues are also available electronically at http://www.ascra.org/inservice.htm.
  3. ASCRA does not have a dues structure. The annual budget is supported entirely by voluntary contributions from our members. Your tax-deductible contributions are invited and very much appreciated. Contributions may be sent to:

If you would like to become a member of ASCRA, send an email to Larry Ragan (N0AIX), Directory Manager, at lragan@kc.rr.com), requesting membership. Please include the following information in your email:
  1. Full name
  2. Callsign and license class, if any
  3. Mailing address
  4. Telephone number
  5. Church membership (e.g. Community of Christ, Independent Restoration Branch, unaffiliated, etc.)
  6. Preferred e-mail address; Note, in providing your e-mail address, please indicate how you wish your address to be used, in terms of the following categories:
    • Category 1: ASCRA-L: The address will be used only for official ASCRA communication from the President, who serves as "the official spokesperson of the Board of Directors". By way of example, such communication may include the following:
      1. Requests for nominations and voting,
      2. Announcements relating to ASCRA activities; such as meeting announcements, the ASCRA web site www.ascra.org, or the like,
      3. Requests for service to ASCRA; such as writing In-Service articles, participation in activities, licensing classes, or the like,
      4. Fundraising to cover budgeted projects, or
      5. Requests for timely input from members on issues affecting ASCRA.

The list server for ASCRA-L is set to direct replies to the originator, to avoid cluttering the inboxes of list subscribers.

    • Category 2: ASCRA_NET-L: This category is established to fulfill an expressed desire to be able to contact ASCRA members for things that do not fit into Category 1. Examples might include disseminating information relating to Amateur Radio in general, notes from meetings, notes from the 20-meter HF net or other nets, prayer requests for fellow members and/or their families, or other kinds of messages intended to enhance the sense of association among the world-wide community of ASCRA members. This category incorporates ASCRA's implicit purpose of Christian fellowship and our collective interest in communicating as hams.

Unlike ASCRA-L, the list server for ASCRA_NET-L is set to direct replies back to the list, since this list is intended as a fellowship list.

    • Category 3: The address will be available in online and/or printed directories which are accessible only by ASCRA members. Online directories containing e-mail addresses will be password-protected to prevent spammers from harvesting the addresses, and the password will be provided to ASCRA members via ASCRA-L.

    • Note: Choosing either Category 2 or 3 automatically includes Category 1. But choosing only Category 1 will not automatically include either Category 2 or 3. Thus, please indicate one of the following choices for how your email address will be used by ASCRA:
      1. Category 1 only,
      2. Both Category 1 and 2,
      3. Both Category 1 and 3, or
      4. All three categories.
